The Ontario Ministry of Transportation implements Veoci as SMS to 29 northern remote airports
The Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO) selected Veoci Software as the Safety Management System (SMS) to the Province’s northern remote airports. The MTO has the largest airport network in Canada, owning and operating 29 airports across northern Ontario.
The airport network is the only reliable transportation network servicing these remote communities and provides essential service, carrying of products and people to and from major markets. The airports provide critical transportation during medical, police and evacuation emergencies. Food, supplies, fuel, freight and new equipment are flown in, unless there is a winter road available in February and March. The Veoci deployment will allow more efficient managing of inspection and safety processes.
Veoci will be deploying an integrated system for the management of inspections and SMS to the 29 airports. Vishu Rao, Veoci’s Director of Airport Solutions, spoke of how the Veoci platform will be tailored for the needs of the Province’s remote airports, saying, “the integrated system-of-systems allows information to be analyzed and processes to be performed across all airports, while still providing each airport an individualized solution, tailored to the airport’s unique needs.”
Rao also noted, “Veoci is proud to have been selected to implement the Ministry’s vision of a true multi-airport network, sharing data between airports is a proven approach to airport operations.”
The MTO’s adoption of the Veoci platform is an exciting event for Veoci Software. The scale and configuration this partnership requires will draw on one the platform’s core features. Each airport will have the Veoci platform tailored to their exact needs while the Ministry will have all the data from the airports in one digitized location. As Rao stated, it’ll truly be a “system-of-systems.”
