Veoci has always been a proud native Connecticut company. Our founders started out of a small office in New Haven, just a few blocks from where our headquarters resides today, 13 years later.
Not only is CT our home base, it is also home to two of our first customers: the City of New Haven and Yale University. In those formative years, these organizations taught us a lot about emergency management, and it’s true when we say we wouldn’t be where we are today without them.
Earlier this year, we decided to dedicate a day to our home-state customers. The goal? To provide an opportunity for peers to come together and trade experiences, ask questions, share solutions, network, and most importantly, enjoy some New Haven “Ah-Beetz”. Thus came Veoci’s first CT Digital City Open House, which we hosted on September 26, 2024.
We were fortunate to have Matt Hoey, First Selectman of Guilford, serve as the Keynote Speaker. Mr. Hoey kicked us off by chatting about the importance of collaboration and having a trusted partner to work towards the shared goal of, “How do we get to yes?”
Following the opening remarks, Mike Shove, Assistant Chief and Deputy Fire Marshal for the Town of Guilford, presented. He walked attendees through how he and his team extensively leverage the Veoci platform to digitize and streamline operations across multiple departments. From emergency management to HR, they continuously explore ways to enhance collaboration, data sharing, and overall efficiency.
We were lucky enough to have representatives from the largest city in Connecticut, Stamford, take the time to discuss how “The City That Works!” is utilizing Veoci. Janeene Freeman, Special Assistant to the Mayor, Director of Partnerships and Community Engagement, and Cynthia Hernandez, Customer Service Representative, discussed the implementation and evolution of Stamford’s FixIt system. By integrating over 15 diverse workflows to accommodate different departments and utility companies and continuously expanding the system’s capabilities, Stamford has seen significant improvement in municipal operations and service delivery.
Keith Basile, General Manager of the Solutions Team, then led the group through Veoci’s vision to help digitize towns and cities across the country. Our hope is that, through the use of our no-code platform, we can be a trusted partner throughout our customers’ digital transformation journey, enabling local government efficiency, accountability, and responsiveness.
Following Keith’s presentation, Veoci’s Municipal Call and Email Tracker solution, which we are offering free to all Connecticut municipalities, was demonstrated. If you are a CT town or city and were not able to make the Open House this year but are interested in the solution, please reach out! To learn more about the solution, click here.
To round out the day, Chris McLaughlin, Senior Solutions Engineer for Veoci, put together an exercise to walk attendees through our Critical Event Management solution. The focus for the day was election day management, a timely topic, and aspects ranging from planning, permitting, traffic & parking to protest and incident response polling management were covered. Chris will also be presenting a webinar on this same topic, so be sure to register for it today!
We hope that our mission for the event resonated and was successful. Though designed for our customers, Veoci team members also found tremendous value in spending the afternoon in person with some of the people they help daily.
We’ve always known that our Veoci community is special, and this event further proved it. Thank you to everyone who participated—your solutions, your willingness to share your ideas, and your hard work make a difference for your communities.
